Post-Production Update: Rise of the Machines
I'm currently upgrading to a new SSD on my desktop build before jumping into color correction and editing for our latest short film "Acid Test" but there have been...complications.
Me trying to memorize the ports for my graphics card (GeForce GTX 760). Eventually, I'd opt for electrical tape to denote (by color) what went where. I have a terrible memory...
The drive bays. This is where things started to go wrong...
When I cloned my local C disk using the Samsung SSD "One-Stop Install Navigator", I got this lovely message. After that experience with the crappy Blu-Ray player, I should have known to stay away. Do yourself a favor: just go with Acronis True Image. It's definitely worth the $50 bucks...
Eventually things booted up just fine, but my on-board RAID 1 configuration was inexplicably "separated" into 2 unique drives (instead of 1). Everything seemed to be working okay. So I tried fixing it myself by reconfiguring the SATA controllers. That's not the same as reformatting, right?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu......
Post Script
After a full week of soul-searching and psychological rehabilitation with friends and family, I pulled myself together and took another crack at the transfer.
Bad news? I lost the RAID and a few critical files from "Spider Hole" & "Prophecy".
Good news? I managed to find a way around the loss that allowed me to upload and rebuild the projects anyway.
In summary, I took a few calculated risks that bit back pretty hard but I'm all the wiser for it. No more blind spots, no more gambling with data.
And now? The new build is up and running! Updates on "Acid Test" are coming soon!
